sacred heart day.

sacred heart day is the founders day of our college... sacred heart. (Well duh!)

now before i get into the story any further let me explain houses. at our college we have 6 house groups, green, pink, blue, yellow, purple and orange and everyone at our school is placed in 1 of the 6 houses when they first start attenting our college. do you americans/australians have anything like that?

anyhow today was sacred heart day and i had the most fantastic day! out of the 4 years i have been at sacred heart this years sacred heart day was the best.

we started the day off with going to church... catholic school so it is kinda expected but then once that was finished all went and got dressed in our house colours. i am in purple and this year the theme was 80's. the outfits that came out where fantastic.

for the last 3 weeks we have been getting together in our house groups and practicing a dance routine to the song shoop shoop by cher which every house has to perform as the competition and then today we were also given another song, each house's differnt and not knowing what the song was which we had an hour to learn and make a dance routine for that one too. our song being love shack by the b52's.

other sounds were another one bites the dust by queen, summer of 69 by bryan adams, why does love do this to me by the exponents, cant touch this by mc hammer and footlose.

anyhow we made up our dance rountines etc etc and overall ended up coming 4th. we where kinda bummed about that but then you win some and lose some.

we also had a special guest come in and judge the dancing which was a new zealand league star. dont ask me who because personally i hate league but then the teachers also did some skits of their own with the male teachers dancing to tina turner and the females to the supremes.

i just loved today so much more than previous ones because it was so musicial and well yeah i enjoyed the day for once [img]smile.gif[/img]

we also gather in our houses for things like smimming sports day, athletics day etc.

well.....there is umm Homecoming and those other spirit week crap

Seniors, Juniors, Sophmores, and Freshmen have thier own colors and do lip sync and dance and stuff and do all kinds of activities. fun fun fun!

a homecoming... is that when every one buys really expensive dress/tux, finds a date, gets a group of friends together to have a few drinks, go to the homecoming, dance all night then finish off with a huge party and lots of drunken people? [img]graemlins/wonder.gif[/img]

I have my formal on the 9th of July..
I know people will be rocking up pissed.. and seemwhile it is being held at the Aquarium in the city, all 18 year olds will be out clubbing while the others hire hotel rooms or whatever...

ME, on the other hand, plans to go straight home to bed so I can get myself ready for Brendans 21st the next night [img]biggrin.gif[/img]
